M.H.M.SHAMS

It's eight years since M.H.M.Shams who worked as the Deputy Editor of Lake House Publications left us. I am dedicating this article in remembering of his eighth death anniversary, which fell on July fifteenth.

M.H.M.Shams who became well known in every nook and corner through his famous'vellichchiragadikkum wenpuraawe',left us making an emptiness in this literary stream.nothing can be compared to his deserted place which brought a great consternation in the mass media. He did what he thought was right. He worked for almost six years at the Lake House publications, creating many pudding artists by puduppunal.

Further , a column named 'Saalaram' gave him much pride and attracted
attention from everyone. He lived and breathed arts. whenever he pointed out any faults he never retreated from that which earned him wrath from some.

Many people who opposed him too, accepted that he was a great intelligent person.
Not only did he polish and mauled students but also many creators. He was also a good role model and a best guide for everyone.
Shams had a rare personality which distracted even his closest people from knowing what he was writing or doing.

Being literate and a broadcaster was only an 's mistakes that was a strong identification of him which he received from many.

He worked as an organization to develop a new generation in journalism. He wanted to showcase views regarding religion, life, politics , literature, etc.to the public and make them improve on these issues.deep knowledge , instantaneous decisions and inspiring confidence were all what he possessed. He made an effort to bring up the new generation through encouragement and enthusiasm without unnerving them. The novel 'Kiraamaththukkanawugal' which became  famous made him a distinguished author and won an award in 2000.

artists, poets and writers can blossom anywhere and everywhere but having all these skill and talents in one , is a rare quality.

There is no place in arts where he hasn't left an impression whether they are songs, drama, poems, short stories, novels, dance or essays.

the service he had done to journalism is like a huge ocean that cannot be limited in a book. It is a garden. which has spread all over the island. He is a hero who confidently through Aruvikkarai' gave us advises and guidance. For all the love and advice he showered on me , this column is only a humble gift. However this won't be a gratitude for all the support and service he had done throughout his life . nevertheless, while penning down about him,my heart and pen feel satisfied.
